My jelly

My jelly jar glasses expire from too much longing colliding with gravity. I bury the shards in my yard. Maybe they will grow into a preserved fruit tree no one can see.

“THANK YOU”

“ THANK YOU ” If you find yourself half naked and barefoot in the frosty grass, hearing, again, the earth’s great, sonorous moan that says you are the air of the now and gone, that says all you love will turn to dust, and will meet you there, do not raise your fist. Do not raise your small voice against it. And do not take cover. Instead, curl your toes into the grass, watch the cloud ascending from your lips. Walk through the garden’s dormant splendor. Say only, thank you. Thank you.  BY ROSS GAY

“AUTUMN”

“ AUTUMN ”  A touch of cold in the Autumn night— I walked abroad, And saw the ruddy moon lean over a hedge Like a red-faced farmer. I did not stop to speak, but nodded, And round about were the wistful stars With white faces like town children. BY T.E. HULME

“THE GOOD LIFE”

“ THE GOOD LIFE ” When some people talk about money They speak as if it were a mysterious lover Who went out to buy milk and never Came back, and it makes me nostalgic For the years I lived on coffee and bread, Hungry all the time, walking to work on payday Like a woman journeying for water From a village without a well, then living One or two nights like everyone else On roast chicken and red wine.  BY TRACY K. SMITH

“RISK”

“ RISK ” And then the day came, when the risk to remain tight in a bud was more painful than the risk it took to blossom.  BY ANAÏS NIN

Alexander Graham Bell

When one door closes, another opens; but we often look so long and so regretfully upon the closed door that we do not see the one that has opened for us.  – Alexander Graham Bell
